When change hurts
It was a fine day yesterday when my manager sent me a chat during an admin meeting that it will be our final 1:1. At first, I didn’t understand why it’s our final 1:1. I asked him during our meeting and he asked me if I was on the meeting earlier, but I said no. I’m never looped in to this kind of discussion.
From there, he told me it was our final 1:1 because I’m now under a new manager. Biggest shocker of my life.
I’m not afraid of change. In fact, I’m okay with change if it’s for the better. However, this one is different. I have a lot of respect with my former manager. He’s easily to approach to despite that he’s working from home. He gave me a lot of insights about being a leader. He was there when it was my lows during my early days of being a leader and he had helped me a lot when it comes to decision-making. With the new manager in place, I’ll have to exert a great deal of effort and adjustment.
I’ve also talked to my friend about this change. One thing he told me was to give the person a chance. I’m already aware of his opportunities, and it would probably be a good learning lesson for the both us while working together.
Let’s see how this plays out. I’m unsure of the future of the brand I’m working with, but if it’s for the better, I’m here for the ride.
