Hello Blog!

It's been a while since I wrote something. I'm aware that the tech debt is so massive, I gave up updating and maintaining my blog. Who would've thought that having PostCSS and other JavaScript stuff can be a pain in the butt in the long term?

To those unaware, I already had a job in 2021. April 2021, to be exact. I've been eyeing the company since I moved back to Davao, and I'm finally working here. The company has an internal training department where agents that don't have an account gather for specialized training. It could be on grammar, what to do on operations, etc. I was profiled for an interior design brand but failed the client interview because, I think, the interviewer wasn't feeling it. I had another interview for a drone brand and was fortunate to pass the final interview.

Last 2022, I bought a computer for the sole purpose of continuing to maintain my website, but work derailed most of my attention. Working on the graveyard shift means I go to sleep after working.

Last 2023, I received news that a manager for the Asia-Pacific region is going to visit the office to familiarize herself with our operations. I told my manager what's going to happen since this is something unusual, especially from the upper management. A few people were required to go to the office for a week to provide a walkthrough of our tasks and responsibilities. For my manager, it was routine since the representative was a new hire. I had something else in mind.

We had a special queue on our internal tool where I graded people coming in before they could go on getting jobs for us. I noticed a few addresses and told my manager if we're expanding in the area. He wasn't aware of it, as his contact didn't update him. I told him that we might be replaced since the address provided was an office. He was in denial because, according to him, why would the client go with the new folks when we are already capable of doing most of the tasks at hand?

To be honest, I wasn't a fan of our performance because we had a bunch of issues my manager refused to address. Every time I or another colleague raised critical issues that would affect operations, he would be quiet or just rant about it without doing anything.

2024 happened, and we were let go. People in operations, to be exact. It meant leaving our work-at-home privilege and going back to the office.

It wasn't a smooth ride, but I guess it was a blessing in disguise because if I had stayed, I wouldn't have grown to where I am now. A lot had happened where I wasn't able to document it. I came to a point of letting people go to protect the interest of the team. Letting go of bad apples to protect our team culture.

Anyway, I've shared a lot.

Ciao!
